What is Y-Dub?

Y-Dub is even more than this funky website, it’s the name for the young women’s branch of the YWCA.  The Y-Dub is a nationwide network run by young women, for young women – ki ngā wāhine rangatahi, mō ngā wāhine rangatahi.

Young women are the main focus of the YWCA’s work. Ydub women are aged 30 and under. They are involved as staff and volunteers throughout YWCA Aotearoa New Zealand and are part of a worldwide organisation. The Y-Dub Network identifies the needs and wants of young women locally and nationally, and responds to those in different ways – through:

  • leadership
  • training
  • getting together
  • publishing booklets & magazines
  • running programmes
  • creating the Y-Dub website
  • careers advice
  • Y-Dub Womanself-defense training
  • support for young mothers
  • scholarships & grants, and much more….

Check out the Open Resources for free booklets and posters that you can order, and find out more about what’s happening in your area on the YWCA in Aotearoa New Zealand page.

Y-Rangatahi has info and articles by and for young Māori wāhine, and you can also find a list of scholarships & grants which you may be able to apply for.
